1. Background:

Dzongu is known as MAYEL LYANG meaning hidden paradise in Lepcha. It is considered to be their holy land and hence is restricted.Tholung Monastery is one of the important places of Dzongu where the scared treasures of the former Buddhist kingdom of Sikkim are preserved. It is one of the oldest monasteries of Sikkim and is around 20 kms away from Linzya village. Hot spring of Lingdem is also famous where numbers of devotees visit the place every year .
